Use Diflucan as directed. Check medicine label for dosing instructions. You can take diflucan with or without food.
To completely clear up infection, take Diflucan in full course of treatment.
Keep taking Diflucan even if feeling better. This medication works best if taken in a same time of day.
If taking PPIs (omeprazole), take Diflucan 2 hours before it. If a dose of Diflucan is missed, take it as soon as you remember it.
If it is almost time for the next dose, the missed dose must be skipped and you have to return to the regular schedule. Do not double dose.
Do not Diflucan (Fluconazole) use if:
- Allergic to Diflucan and its components.
- Taking Cisapride or Terfenadine.
Take this medication as prescribed. Do not stop treatment even if symptoms disappear.
Inform your health care provider regarding medical conditions such as liver or kidney disease, arrhythmia, or Long QT syndrome history.
Diflucan is classified as pregnancy category C. It is unknown if Diflucan is harmful to a baby that is not yet born. Inform your health care provider if already pregnant or planning to get pregnant.
This medication passes into the breast milk that may harm the baby.
Do not use this drug without telling health care provider if you breast-feed a baby.
Seek emergency medical attention immediately if an overdose is suspected.
Some symptoms of overdose include:
- Confusion
- Hallucination
- Paranoia
- Decreased breathing
- Decreased movement
- Tearing eyes
- Drooling
- Urinary incontinence
- Seizures
- Death in extreme cases
Diflucan (Fluconazole) side effects:
Inform your health care provider if you develop signs of serious allergic reaction. It includes, hives, rash, difficulty of breathing, or swelling of throat, tongue, lips, or face. Call your health care provider if you develop severe side effects:
- Fever, chills, flu-like symptoms
- Severe blister, skin rash
- Nausea
- Jaundice
- Clay-colored stool
- Stomach pain
- Low grade fever
- Loss of appetite
- Dark urine
- Unusual fatigue
- Seizure
Less serious side effects:
- Mild nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, upset stomach
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Skin rash
- Unpleasant taste in the mouth
